L'hiver reste ici une période de tri en tout genre ;-) Je reviens encore sur des photos prises sur des nouveaux sites d'observations, découvert avec un peu de recherche internet ;-)

Voici donc des photos de sternes arctiques prises en vol, qui, malgré le titre de ce message, ne semblaient pas vraiment intéressées par un tel voyage ;-) même si c'est un des plus grand voyageur de la terre. Malgré ses 100g (un tout petit peu plus en fait), la sterne arctique fait 71,000km par an. Durant sa vie elle aura donc fait l'équivalent de 3 aller-retours vers la lune (D'où le titre ;-) ). The only real photographic activity in winter is the sorting out of old pictures and others photo-related stuff ;-) So I wills till publish old pictures of last year, taken at a new location discovered through some research on internet.

Here are some shots of Arctic tern, which despite the title of the message, did not seem interested in doing this trip, even if this is one of the biggest migrants on earth. Despite it relatively small weight (a bit above 100g), that bird is gonna travel 71,000km every year!!! In its life-time, the total amount she will have covered the equivalent of three return journeys to the moon (Hence the title) ;-). Just look at this nice link: http://www.arctictern.info/

#13 Lucie 2013-01-16 18:35 Cela fait toujours rêver quand on voit ces quelques grammes habillées de plumes qui entreprennent de si longues migrations! Les sternes détiennent des records dans ce domaine.
Tes photos sont magnifiques j'aime leur élégance. On peut regarder leur ballet sans jamais se lasser. Citer

It has been one thing after another since the beginning of the year,so I haven't been on blog, just getting to some comments!! Last week was a crappy week literally :sigh: my septic tank and system failed :eek: :roll: so alot of fixing kept me busy!! If that wasn't bad enough I saw a flock of Bohemian Waxwings :-) land in the top of a neighbors tree...they have a crab apple tree loaded with apples so I went for the camera and they flew off, and I haven't seen or heard then
since :sad: !!
Yes the reason I'm here... I get your title.. ;-) Amazing bird... simile of distance to the moon is awesome hard but hard to fathom

The Arctic Tern photos are lovely! I also enjoyed the Barrow's Goldeneye and the photos of the Great Northern Diver were stunning!! You were able to get so close, a wonderful experience!! Citer
